More paper Scenery

Back in the day, paper scenery was all we had for 40k. Now, there are many different options ranging in price and style. Scenery makes our games more realistic and exciting. It offers further escape into a vast world for our armies. It is what can make or break a game or even a campaign. I have had plenty of games with boxes, and books for hills. (As well as the mandatory Pringles can tower of doom.) I have plenty of the GW terrain, but would like to sprinkle in some other pieces for a good mix. I want my city to look like Orks assaulted an Imperial city, then just took over, and have been there for a while. I had mentioned a site a few posts ago that has a bunch of paper scenery. (I built a dumpster.) Well, another slow day at work, and I have this to show for it. The coke package and building are from the same site. The tire is from a toy truck, and the mek is to show a size comparision.

Best of all, this scenery didn't cost me anything! Just a few minutes, paste, and scissors...

UltraMarines Movie review

So, I finally watched the Ultramarines movie at Mike's. I know there are plenty of reviews out there worth reading, and my oponion pales in comparision to an actual review. SO, without further ado, here is my personal take on it without giving away any spoilers. (Keep in mind, that it was late when we watched it, I was tired, and these are only opinions as of the current moment, they may change after I see the movie again.)

First off, I will say I did actually enjoy it. I went into with expectations not being too high, as I know the budget for this movie was pretty low. (It has been said that there are video game cinematics that cost more for 3 minutes of footage than the Ultramarines movie did in its entirety.) That being said, I found the animation was pretty good. Although, it did seem wooden from time to time, the action was fluid, and I enjoyed the overall feel of the movie. (Even if I did feel as I was watching the animated Starship Troopers show at some points.)

I did think that the atmospere of the movie was just ok. I realize that Dan Abnett as good as his novels are, is not yet a screenwriter. Notice I did say yet. I hope that his screenwriting skills do improve, as overall the plotline though thin in some regards, and did not do justice to the story of chaos, was good considering the budget they had to work with. (And the length consideration for the movie.) I expected a little more conversation from the Chaos marines and or daemon. In the books, it seems Chaos is always trying to get marines to "see the light" and turn them to Chaos. There was none of that here, so it just kind of fell flat. I kept making jokes about certain things, "Oh, that guy just rolled a one on his armour save..." So, as I did like the movie, I was really hoping for more stuff overall. I realize that this is just an "introduction" movie. It was made for fans, and it did a good job fitting in the universe of 40k. It also does a good job introducing people who have never heard of 40k, to the universe, so they couldn't put too much into it, as it would overwhelm the audience.
My biggest dissapointment was that there were no orks, and they chose UltraSmurfs instead of Dark Angels. (Ok, I am a bit biased.) But, I feel orks are brand name recognition along with space-marines. And, if included, they could have promoted the hobby a bit more, with a "trailer" for Black Reach before the movie. (As the box set contains Orks and Spacemarines.) And with Chaos being the enemy, the past of the Dark Angels and their zeal for fighting Chaos, would have been much better. Just a thought.
Overall, I felt the movie was like the 1968 Planet of the Apes. Now, before anybody gets upset, let me say I thouroughly enjoy that movie, and Charlton Heston is awesome. Here is why I compare the two. Planet of the Apes takes a while to get into it. It is somewhat of a slow start, and there is a feeling of isolation with its vast empty spaces and music and such in the first part of the movie. Ultramarines is simular in as much as they don't encounter the enemy for sometime, and there is a lot of smoke to elude to the mysterious nature of the mission. I do appreciate that the movie isn't non-stop action, audiences have grown bored of such movies, and in today's society, you need to "wow" us. The first 30-40 minutes failed to really "wow" me. So, I like the movie as a whole, and I hear it is better the second time around, but I am glad it did not come out in the theatres, as it would have been an embarassment. And, I am glad that I didn't pay $15 for a ticket. I had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised.

Bottom line - Overall a good rendition of 40k, but remember what they had to work with, and fast forward to the good scenes.

So I have been looking for a cheap (lit. free) way to do a fighta for my orks. I have come across some really good paper models out there of Space Marine vehicles, Imperial Guard, and even Titans, but no Ork vehicles... However, I did come across some good scenery for modern buildings and props, along with a Orky settlement. I decided just to see how good it would look so, I put this dumpster together at work in about 5 minutes. I only had an old glue stick to work with and some large scissors. The glue from the stick was decidedly sub-standard, and did not go on smooth. I am confident however, that once I have proper building materials, and some practice, I can make some halfway decent terrain. I got the dumpster and other stuff for free here. Also, there is a thread over on WarSeer forums in the archives tracking different projects and such which you can find here. But enough with the links, here are da pics!

Nob Possiblities

I conducted a simple poll on the-waaagh forums to see how the majority of ork players equip the Nobs that accompany their boys squads into battle. 61% had said that they always equip them with a power klaw, and a slugga. However the discussion brought up a possibilty that I had not thought of before.

Is it possible to give an ork Nob a big shoota? Answer: no However, it is possible for an ork boy who has a big shoota to become a Nob with a power klaw. Schematics - the upgrade order is what is important here.

I quote a post from the forums.

Q. If a Boyz mob exchange sluggas and choppas with shootas, can a Nob take a power klaw or a big choppa?

A. You may upgrade the Nob to have a big choppa or power klaw before you choose to upgrade the mob to have shootas, in which case the Nob is not affected by the mob's weapon swap (as he no longer has a choppa to swap), does not receive a shoota and keeps his slugga and power klaw/big choppa instead. He is a lot happier that way!"

However you can give a Nob a PK and Big Shoota as he does not need to swap a choopa for one of these! The upgrade path is: A boy upgrades his sluga for a Big shoota, so has big shoota and choppa, the entire unit swaps its choppas and slugas for shootas, this boy can not do this as he dos not have a sluga, so keeps the big shoota. One boy may be upgraded to a Nob, this can be any boy chose the big shoota armed boy, swap his choppa for a Power Klaw.

On a side note GW does produce a Nob armed with a big shoota and a PK

This in my opinion is they way forward, as you don't lose fire power in the unit for taking a PK, and gets round this stupid FAQ decision.

So next time I go to waaagh, I may have to try that combo out. what's better than a single shot (or in the case of orks...no shot -because if you are close enough to use a slugga, you are typically close enough to charge, or get into close combat.) at 12" range? How about 3 shots at 36" range...and then hit them with a PK. Besides that, it means that at least one of your Big Shootas stays around a bit longer because of the additional wound the Nob has.

Here are some Nobs I have been working on. A few touch -ups and they should be good. I included the power-klaw nob as a reference for skin-tone, and size compated to the AoBR nobs. I think he will work out in the unit. (He's just been promoted and that is why he is a bit smaller than the others.)

Orks reliable?

Orks reliability. Most who play orks would say otherwise. Orks are predictably unreliable, and that is why most players choose Orks in the first place. Most players will compensate for that weakness in creating a list that will be solid. In other words, an intelligent general will often hide the flaw of his army in order and play to his strengths. It is clich'e but, it is another facet of 40k by now.

So, how do ork players hide the nature of the army, and use it to their advantage. Well, most opponents will assume they can expect a few basic things about orks. 1.) They are going to utilize speed to close in and get into combat quickly. 2.) They will use a lot of boys. 3.) That they will be grouped together to avoid template weapons. 4.) That no matter what, the orks will try to get into combat where they excel. and 5.) They are unpredictable.
While this may be true to a certain extent, it is by no means the only way to play orks. Since your opponent knows that your Orks are unpredictable, use it to your advantage. Switch your lists up, try something new. Don't be afraid to try a shooty ork army. (Especially if facing the Tyranids.) The basic shoota gets 2 shots, so if you have 2 units of 30 boys in range, with 3 big shootas in each squad, that means you are going to roll 126 dice. Assuming you are concentrating firepower at a unit of 10 marines, 42 of those dice will hit, causing 14 wounds. Now Marines will save two-thirds of that, so approximately 4-5 marines will fall. (Utilizing math-hammer.) What about 2 rounds of shooting. Assuming that the Marine will stay in range. But, if they don't that is why shootas are great weapons. (Assault 2) You can just as easily move into range, and fire away. If they tricky marine player was using the squad as bait, to lure you into range of a big template or massed firepower. You always have the option to go to ground.
The bottom line is, the orks are unpredictable to a points, and to utilize that, don't give your opponents what they expect. Create lists that are "different" and "unusual". (Which is why I always liked the shooty ork list.)

So here is my Painboy WIP. I tried a new technique with the 'urty syringe. I have never done a vial of liquid before, and figured I would give it a shot. I think it turned out pretty well, and it was very easy to do. I will try to do a tutorial on it in the near future.

Grotz! Or Gretchin? What about Snotlings?

I must admit, I have not done much research on Grots, as I hardly ever include them in any army. In the back of my mind, I always have wanted to do an entire horde of the little buggers, but don't know how tactically sound that is.

So, are they Gretchin or Grots? What's the difference? Snotlings? Is it just me, or have they seemed to get weedier in the last few years? In the Ork 'Dex, it talks about how the Slavers enjoy their job in part because they know a meal is not far away. So, orks actually eat the little guys? I figured an orks diet consisted of whatever the heck it wants, but why eat a grot that could be "valuable" when it comes to fetching ammo, or being your personal slave? Is there that many of the little blighters? If so, then the grot rebellion actually makes some sense on their end. I know the Grots place in orkish society, and I understand how they are treated. I don't really feel "bad" for them. If I were an ork, I would just as likely use one as my personal slave or weapon of choice as I would eat it.

Which brings me to my next point. If the grot is "good" (like an ammo runt that never lets his boss run out of ammo, or an orderly that is always there when you need him...etc...) then what about having a named grot? Or a special character grot. (I know the Red Gobbo...)

But, what about a named special character grot that started life as an ammo runt to the flash gitz? One day, while cleaning his boss' gun, he accidently shot his boss, and ever since then, he loved the idea of a grot sized snazz. So, he talked to some of the mek's grots, and they decided to make one. After months of secret work, they had their end product. A Zapzooka. Utilizing the theory of the grotzooka, they electrified the projectiles, and when it hits the target, it sends a built up charge through it, on top of the piercing damage it does. Of course, if the orks were to see this, then they would just take it for themselves.

Perhaps a storyline behind a named grot would be a moot point. Perhaps I am thinking that a named character grot would be akin to some of the named fantasy lesser ork characters. Like Gobbla, or Niblet. For those who don't know, Gobbla is a giant pet squig to the Night Goblin big boss, Skarsnik, and Niblet is a banner waver for the Goblin boss Grom the Paunch.
Maybe simpler is better, like an ammo runt for Ghazakul or Nazdreg that affords d3 re-rolls for the entire game. (You roll at the beginning of the game, and if for example you roll a "2" then you would have 2 re-rolls to use that game.)

Perhaps I just don't know what I am talking about, and eating them tastes pretty darn good. I imagine they taste like the doubledown from KFC. Not great, and definitely not good for you, but fulfills a purpose. Unlike the orks, who taste like steak and mushrooms...

Enough ramblings about the lives of the lesser greenskins...I have to get 20 of the little buggers done by the end of the month.

Looted Valkyrie

So, I saw this Looted Valkyrie over on the-waaagh forums, and I got inspired to loot one myself, count it as a battlewagon in normal games, and a fighta bomma in Apocalypse games. I would keep the flying aspect of it. Although I do llike the Dragster idea as well.

Please note: The battle reports for Killzone battles 3 and 4 in the Return to Armageddon Campaign are post-poned due to illness in my family. (Wifey) I will update with the battle reports once we have played the missions.

In other news, a quick inventory of the buildings I have built, is a whopping total of 10! (If I take some of the buildings and make 2 out of .) Now to get them painted.

Coming this weekend (hopefully) I will post my first tutorial. Keep checking the links above.

Return to Armageddon Campaign News - Scenery Challenge

So I built my 2nd building in about an hour last night, it is a looted mechanicus building that I am going to use for a Mek's shop/shed. I just need to make it Orky and "Proppa", then paint it.

So, I got to thinking, we are going to need a lot more scenery for Cities of Death, and to represent Hive Incedius Mortis. (Not to mention the Apocalypse battle.) So, I better get to work! What better way to have some motivation than to challenge oneself. I figured it took me an hour to build one building, can I do 4 buildings, and get them painted in 4 days? That is the challenge...4 buildings, 4 days. And get ready for the Thanksgiving holiday since we are hosting, and be a husband and father...easily done. Just work about an hour and a half each night. I will keep posting updates on my progress, and you can always check the scenery page above as well.

Mission Log - Entry 2

It has been several weeks since Brother Veteran Frauhofer and his team departed from the bunker. If Brother Veteran Frauhofer and his Special Operation group fell, then they did so in the name of our beloved Emporer. I have received orders from Brother Captain Arceus and have gathered the necessary troops, and provisions to fulfill our two-fold mission.
1.) Search for any survivors and or corpses of our Brothers in Arms.
2.) Secure the data that was taken that is vital to the Imperium.

Day 1 - Encountered a camp of small, feral greenskins. The larger xenos refer to these as "grots". They are a slave race to their larger masters. Despite their weak appearance, they are vicious. The holy bolter and chainsword quickly dispatched of there cunning, and vile ways.

Day 2 - Approached Incedius Hive, follwing the digital mapping sequence, we entered the city utilizing the precise path our brothers did a month ago.

Day 3 - Upon entering the city, we have seen evidence of a small battle, and recovered the gene-seed from our fallen brothers. The data in question is not among the fallen, and there are still no signs of Brother Frauhofer. We shall continue through the night, moving north through the city in search of our Brothers, and the data.

Return to Armageddon Campaign News - Mission 2 Battle Report

As the Marines move deeper into Hive Incedius Mortis, to recover the stolen data, they encounter more of the Greenskin menace than they had bargined for.

And the setup...

Turn 1 the marines moved into a forward position, and opened fire with their plasma gun, killing one ork boy. The boys moved forward excited to see some proppa fightin'!

The orks await some targets for their dakka..

Turn 2 saw the orks call the Waaaagh! And get to krumpin' some beakies.

By this time, my big shootas were really doing well along with the shoota boyz. I have never rolled that many 5-6 in a full 1500pt game, let alone a small skirmish like Killzone!

Turn 4 - The heavy bolter Marine survived the massive 8 Strength 4 attacks that the boyz inflicted upon him, and did not do any wounds back. "Noe wot dat means? Pour more boyz in da mix, and they will surely krump im!"

Turn 5 saw a lot of action. 2 Marines died from dakka, and the third was assaulted by 2 boys and a nob. No contest there, but since the mission awarded extra points for each model in the enemy deployment zone, I was more interested in taking out the plasma cannon, and the heavy bolter. The plasma cannon had only one target and he missed. (My opponent even said, "Darn it, I was not going to shoot with him, so he could help his brother marine in melee with the orks") The orks piled on the Heavy Bolter marine, and the Veteran finally fell.

Turn 6 - one marine remained in melee with a nob, and 2 boys on the orks side. And there was the plasma cannon to deal with. (Marine morale check passed.) A slim chance, but if I can hit the Plasma cannon with my rokkit boy...

All in all a good game. I felt bad for Mike whose dice were not treating him well. Gork was definitely present as all the Marine shooting went poorly and all the Ork shooting went great.

Utilizing stealth (It is not that hard to sneak around orks.) the Marines entered the city through the sewer system. Using a faint tracking signal, they knew where there prey was, and needed to retreive the stolen data cylinders from the orks in order to save Armageddon from complete annhilation.

So here is the first piece of scenery for our Return to Armageddon campaign. I built a storage facility out of a soup can. (Inspired by the Apocalypse book) Since my orky city is going to be looted Imperial Ruins/Buildings, I figured, I would make this an Imperial Storage facility, then "loot" it.

We have failed the holy Emperor, and the most of the Operations team were taken down by heavy Xenos ballistics. Our brothers who have fallen have been escorted back to base camp to be cared for by Brother Apocathery. Myself and Brother Terminator Hestophar have survived.
The xenos threat took heavy losses as well. Our brethren did their duties with a fire in their hearts, and the words of the Imperial Doctrine upon their lips. The xenos threat was nearly annhilated, however, the weight of their numbers nearly crushed our battle plans. We shall not fail again, and the more greenskins there are in the thick of battle, the more opppurtunity we have to show our faith and our strength. We shall overcome the xenos threat next time in the name of our Holy Emperor!

The greenskins seem to survive on fighting, and are no doubt prepared for an assault. We must hunt down and exterminate the small force we had the oppurtunity to battle in the name of our beloved Emperor, before they are able to muster larger numbers.

We have procurred new team members, and have a new objective. Secure the Imperial data, and exterminate the entire xenos threat within the immediate area.

Gitstomp 'Eadbasha was a young goff who quickly gained notoriety when he decided that the ork nob leading his fellow boys on Armageddon was a pansy and a sneaky git. The young Gitstomp defeated the nob Krusha in combat. The "killing" blow was a fierce stomp on the head. The rest of the boys were impressed and soon the name Gitstomp was shouted among the boys, as he amassed a large following. The last anyone saw of the former nob Krusher was a small pack of grot orderlies dragging his body and smooshed head towards the scrapyard...

Never truly content with fighting the Imperium, Gitstomp thought that HE should be the one to carry the Waaagh Banner. Knowing it would be a difficult fight to take the current holder of the banner out of the picture, Gitstomp decided to wait until dark, and unleash a rabid pack of squighounds into the unsuspecting Nob's hut. Although bloodied and weakened the nob did not die. (Which Gitstomp had planned on.) Soon the two nobs were fighting head on. The battle continued through the night, each vieing for supremacy, as a large group of boys, Nobs and Da Warboss looked on. Gitstomp landed the final blow with a fierce 'eadbutt to his opponent, bashing the teeth out, and the cranium in. Gitstomp picked up the banner and held it aloft to the cries of "'EADBASHA!" Standing over the fallen nob's corpse, he quickly chopped the head off, and said, "Dese 'ere are my teef!" The Warboss looked on at Gitstomp 'Eadbasha (as he was now known) with a steely gaze marking his contempt for the upstart. The warboss thought to himself, "Next 'e'll come afta me! I betta make shur da boyz start to 'ate 'im, and still make me look good to Da Big Boss."
The warboss thought he had a bolt of inspiration from Mork, a cunning, sneaky plan, that will undoubtedly be sucessful. "So, da best way iz to lead da boyz into loadsa battles dat are impossible to win, dat way, when we looz, I blame Gitstomp, and everyone starts to hate im!"
After every failed battle, the warboss tried to blame Gitstomp for their misfortune. Often times the warboss thought Gork had smiled upon him as Gitstomp was nowhere to be found after the battle. (More often than not, he was away lootin' and bashin'
da teef out of da fallen boyz.)
The warboss had inadvertently adopted the new name of Loozbadd.
Gitstomp decided he would buy some Mega-armour from the mek Wasgrat. Once he stepped into his new mighty, warmachine/armor, he felt at home. After marching to a few more unsucessful battles under the command of Loozbadd, Gitstomp 'Eadbasha had enough. He told the boyz, "Da best way to start beatin' da oomies, iz to get a bettah boss!" Loozbadd was a formidable foe for Gitstomp. The combat lasted days, and the fighting reached the ears of Ghazakull Thraka. Impressed that a mere boy had ascended the ranks and now was fighting one of his worst lieutenants on Armageddon. Ghazakull watched intently as Gitstomp finally defeated Loozbadd and took his powerklaw and crushed the defeated warbosses head. "WAIT" Ghazakull bellowed, "Git da painboy to fix 'im up, He'll be a nob to some dakka boyz, 'til he learns how to be an ork again."

Gitstomp felt some animosity towards Ghazakul for taking his prey from him. But now he was boss, and eventually he could be Da Big Boss.

Ghazakull soon grew bored with the way the third invasion for Armageddon was going, since neither side was gaining any more ground, so he left his lieutenants in charge, and left.
Gitstomp sooned gained the support of his fellow bosses once Ghazakull had left. But, he still knew that Ghazakull could come back and take command of all the orks in the Armageddon system at anytime. So, he figured the only way that he could become da big boss, was to kill Ghazakull before his return.
"We 'ave been fightin' here all dis time, and where is Ghazakull?!" He said to the other warbosses one day. "I finks 'E found some bettah fightin' an he's keepin it to 'imself!"
The other warbosses seemed to nod in agreement, but deep down, they knew what Gitstomp was up to.
"But Warboss 'Eadbasha..."
The fellow warboss was cut off abruptly. "I 'ave a new name! Call me Snikthraka!" By now the other warbosses knew that he was about as sane as a pile of squig droppings, and figured the best way to deal with him since he became so powerful, was to get him out of the Armageddon region.
"Snikthraka, yoo shuld go an' hunt 'Ol Ghazakull down, dat way yoo ken be da Big Boss!"
Gitstomp 'Eadbasha Snikthraka liked that idea, so much so, that he gathered a large waaagh, and took to the stars to hunt down Ghazakull, fighting anything that comes in his way.
Every now and then he does return to Armageddon, hoping to find Ghazakull there, but he doesn't so he bangs a few heads together, runs some invasions on ooomie settlements that would be considered mad by all other counts. And then he leaves again, saying things like, "If I could figure out a way to throw da moon into dis planet, we could really kill a lot of oomies!" or His other personal favorite, "I am going to shoot da next Nob who can't walk undah da water, and git me a oomie submachine!!!"

May the Emporer bless. Received mission concerning the ork menance that is in possesion of holy documents vital to our beloved Emporer's realm within the system of Armageddon. These documents are said to be within the ruins of Promethus Hive, on the fringe of Armageddon Secundus. These ruins overrun by the xenos threat long ago, are a hotbed of greenskin activity. The mission that the Blessed Emporer has called upon us to do through his Servant Inquisitor, is to recover the data by any means possible, and exterminate any who get in the way of our holy cause.

Approach to the ruined hive city was unsettling as it was quiet. The jungle seemed entirely devoid of creatures, as if the greenskins ate anything that was moving within its darkened canopy. The entrance we were going to use was through the abandoned exhaust ways that lead out from the walls of the lower hive.

Within enemy territory, on lookout for signs of current xenos threats.

Day 3
Sighted enemy, engaged in the name of the Emporer.

Extraction Mission Killzone

When I told Mike that I wanted to start a campaign that would start with a small Killzone game and ramp up to Apocalypse, he seemed skeptical. (I can't blame him, we have played a total of 3 games...ever) So, Monday night was the first of these battles. We were able to get 2 games in, and you can see his take on the battles here.

I am going to be writing some of the background of the battles and posting them here.

So here he is, the new Mega armored warboss. The iron gob is purposely not glued in so I can paint the face fully. The body is Ghazakull Thraka, the Moon is from the Night Goblins, and the head is from the standard metal boss. I also incorporated some parts from the deff dread.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I have had a lot going on. We had a death in the family recently. I moved house. And on a brighter, frivolous note, I have been playing a lot of Magic since I moved. (thanks, James).

I recently came up with a new list for my Orks, and since I had the models (with about half built and fully painted!) I decided that this would be a good time to update, and share my list with everyone. Another update will follow with a WIP pic.
The basic premise, is what if I did an army with no boyz? (It is possible, but sane? Read on to find out how and why.)
So without further ado, here it is.

Ork Klans - Bad Moonz and Blood Axes

The first in a series of articles exploring the different klans. Most of the information on the Ork Klanz is already in Codex: Orks. However by studying these articles, we can come up with rules for the klanz for use in your games of Warhammer 40000. (these are to use with the 5th ed. Codex: Orks.)

Bad Moonz
The Bad Moonz teef grow faster than any other ork, which comes in very handy as the orks use teef as currency. The Bad Moonz are the closest thing to a merchant class the orks have. They often wear the best armour, and have the best weaponry. They perfer to wear Yellow and black as their chosen clan colours. Bad Moonz often have a scowling moon as their iconagraphy.

Using a Bad Moonz army.

May include a unit of Burnas, Meganobs, or Tankbustas as a troop choice. (Note: Only one may count as a troops choice, not one of each!)
In addition, a unit of Flash Gitz maybe included as a troop choice.
Bad Moonz may not take grot squads.

Blood Axes
Blood Axes are sneaky gits. They perfer to wear camoflage, as they see getting shot up before they reach their prey as a wasted oppurtunity. They are also, the only orks who openly trade with the Imperium, and have been known to fight alongside mankind as mercanaries.
Generally, they are not trusted by other orks.

Using a Blood Axe Klan.
May take up to 2 Kommando units as troops. In addition any ork boy nobs may have camo paint for +4 points per boy. Camo Paint confers a +1 to their cover save, and even grants a cover save in the open without having to go to ground. (I,E; a unit of boys with camo paint would receive a 6+ cover save in the open, and a 5+ if they went to ground.)
Also, Blood axes may include up to one troop choice from Codex: Imperial Guard.
Blood Axes may not take Deff Dreds, Killa Kans or Battlewagons. (As these are far too noisy, and don't make good to sneak up on the enemy.)

The idea for the shooty list is to put the burnas in the trukk after the first turn, and move forward shooting, and then jump out and hit them with like 20 power weapon attacks. Use, gretchin to shield the boys in combination with the kustom force field, shield the shokk attack gun. Just shoot, and move forward to get into combat.

After 2 turns of surviving Imperial shooting, I had just under half of my army left.

My opponent did say his army theme was to see how many template weapons he could put in the army. Which is viable, but, I feel it was a bit lame. I would say it was lame if I played it and had won.

We played the Annihilation mission, I killed one unit with Snikrot, and his Kommandos, but my opponent wiped out all but 12 models in my army. It was over by the third turn.
I deployed incorrectly, I moved bad, the whole game I played wrong. My mind was not really on the game. I am not sure why.

I played in the 'Ard boyz tournament not that long ago, and came in last. The organizer of the event and host of the venue came up with a great name for my Warboss because of it. (Thanks Angelos.) I need to either come up w/ a new warboss, or better army list, or something, because I was doing pretty well with my orks until then. After that, every game I have played, I have lost. (Not that I mind losing, but an occasional win would be nice.) Although, I would probably lose a battle too, if my nose ring was not gold...that is something I need to fix. (Among other things.) I had to paint him quickly for the tournament.

Well, under the advise of a friend (Thanks Mike), I finally decided to do a seperate blog for each of my current projects. Since I have so much done for my Bad Moon Orks for Warhammer 40K, I decided to start with them.

I started my Orks near the end of May 2008 in preparation for a tournament. I had to have 1000pts painted by June 8th, 2008. I made it, and I continue to work on my orks a bit every week. I also am working on Empire for Warhammer, (See the Empire blog ), (Not to mention the PILES of scenery that I have to build and paint.) But, that is another post for another blog. This blog is dedicated to all things orky. Check back from time to time for ideas, background stories, paint schemes, conversion ideas, and best of all...the pix!
Until then, let out a mighty waaagh! And bash a few 'eads for good measure! (note, the bashing of 'eads is a metaphor only and the author does not condone the bashing of anyone's 'ead accept where permissable by law.)
